It’s been a brilliant beer month, and not just because of the sunny weather. We had two pit stops at Sheffield Tap at the start of the month, attended Hop City in mid-May, popped into the Victoria & Commercial twice, and rounded off the month at the Great Exhibition of Prize Ales.
New Brew Networking
Before I tell you what we’ve been drinking this month, here’s a quick reminder of our upcoming New Brew events…
Online
Sign up, grab a new brew, then log in for a friendly chat.
You'll be asked to introduce yourself, tell us a bit about your business, and let us know what you’re drinking. Once everyone has done this, we’ll just chat about whatever comes up.
There are no sales pitches or presentations. It’s just a group of business owners having a beer together.
In-Person
I’m also hosting another in-person meet-up on July 17th in Leeds City Centre. The venue is to be confirmed (once I have a better idea of numbers), but will be within walking distance of Leeds train station.
If you’d like to join us for a friendly chat and a couple of beers, you can register here, and I’ll let you know the venue once confirmed.
Venue Shout-Out: Victoria & Commercial, Leeds
This beautiful Victorian pub was reopened by Kirkstall Brewery and Whitelocks in 2025 and retains many of the original features.
We visited back when it first reopened and have been in twice this month. It’s a beautiful venue, serving a wide range of drinks, including a great selection of cask and keg beers. Highly recommend a visit if you’re out and about in Leeds.

Address: 28 Great George St, Leeds LS1 3DL
What We’ve Been Drinking in May…
Here’s a quick rundown of what we’ve been drinking in May.
New Brews at Home
As well as our Brewdog vs Aldi battle, our new brews at home included:

New Brews Out and About
As well as sampling plenty of great brews at Hop City and The Great Exhibition of Prize Ales, our May beers included these:

Top 5 & Beer of the Month
What’s on the menu for the month ahead?
Alex’s birthday is the last day of May, and mine is the last day of June, so we always have plenty of plans this time of year. We’re off to Montenegro for a few days, and we have tickets for Def Leppard in Sheffield, so we’ll be making the most of our time there.
And of course, we have plenty of exciting selections in our always well-stocked fridge. Coming up, we have two selections made up of a collab beer and the beers that inspired it.

And as always, we’ll be on the lookout for interesting new brews when we’re out and about.
I’m always open to recommendations, so do let me know about any good beers you’ve been drinking recently, and I hope to see you at my next new brew event in a few days.
Cheers!
