We started the month in Manchester and had a brew at the micropub in Arndale Market, before heading to Northwestward Ho for a few. Then we headed off to Samos for two weeks, with a two-day trip to Patmos in the middle for our 11th wedding anniversary. Toward the end of the month, we headed into the city centre for Leeds Light Night and popped to Head of Steam for a couple. Then we rounded off the month with some new brews at home and with friends.

I’ll be hosting another in-person event in January or February, and I’ll be sharing the details as soon as the date and location are confirmed.
Venue Shout-Out: Samos Beer, Samos, Greece
I appreciate many of you won’t have immediate plans to pop over to Samos, but if you do find yourself there in the future, I highly recommend a visit to Samos Beer in Pythagoreio.
It’s a fantastic little microbrewery - one of the smallest in Greece - and it has a great taproom, good selection of beer, and a friendly atmosphere. You can also do a tour of the brewery with the owner. It’s a single-room brewery so it doesn’t take long, but he is very interesting and passionate, so it’s worth it to find out more about the history behind the building and the beer.

What We’ve Been Drinking in October…
Here’s a quick rundown of what we’ve been drinking in October.
In Greece
As well as sampling a lovely selection of brews during our four visits to Samos Beer, we also added a few others into the mix.

And although this is a blog and newsletter all about beer, I can’t possibly mention our trip to Samos without talking about the wine. We tried a fair amount during our trip, visiting the wine museum and the Hatziioannou Estate - a small independent winery that I’d highly recommend if you’re in the area.
I’m not a massive wine fan, but I fell in love with the sweet wines, which were delicious. I could happily drink a bottle of Vin Doux to myself it was so good.

New Brews at Home
We’ve had some lovely beers at home this month, including…

New Brews Out and About
As always, we’ve been on the lookout for tasty new brews when we’re out and about, and we found a fair few, including these:

Top 5 & Beer of the Month
What’s on the menu for the month ahead?
We’ve got a pretty quiet month ahead, but there are plenty of beers in our fridge to keep us busy, including our own home-brewed stout, which is now ready to drink. We’ve also got a few selections to make our way through, including these:

And as always, we’ll be on the lookout for interesting new brews when we’re out and about.
I’m always open to recommendations, so do let me know good beers you’ve been drinking recently, and I hope to see you at my next new brew event in a few days.
Cheers!
