Location: Pythagoreio, Samos, Greece | Find them: Samos Beer

We spent two weeks in Samos (broken up by a two-day stay on Patmos), and during those two weeks, we visited Samos Beer four times. We managed to work our way through most of the beers on tap and bought a couple of cans to take back with us too.

It’s the only craft beer bar in Pythagarieo and the only brewery on the island of Samos, so if you want something other than Mythos, Fix or Alfa, make sure you head here.

What we loved

Great beer is always a draw, but we also loved how friendly and chilled out the bar was. Admittedly, we were there at the end of the season, so it might be much busier in the height of summer, but it’s still worth a visit either way.

We also did the free tour while we were there. It’s a one-room brewery, so there isn’t a whole lot to see, but I’d absolutely recommend it. The owner, Dimitri, is clearly passionate about beer and very knowledgeable about the history of Samos. He renovated the property himself, does all the brewing, and has even started growing some of his own hops. It was really nice to hear about the different beers from the person who actually makes them all.

What we drank

We visited four times and had one or two beers each time, so we managed to work our way through a good selection.

Golden Jackal: Golden Ale 3.8%

Brewer’s note: The golden jackal of Samos, the only one found on a Greek island, is an endangered species to which our new beer is dedicated! A Golden Ale, generously hopped, is refreshing, fruity, bitter and low alcohol, perfect for summer!

Valsamo Lager: Helles 4.9%

Valsamo Ale: Honey Beer 5.5%

Brewer’s note: Using the purest natural honey of Samos and handpicked ingredients, Valsamo is what visitors get from our island. A soothing sensation for the soul.

Armakas: Saison 6.7%

Brewer’s note: A refreshing and spicy fresh beer, highly drinkable and aromatic!

ONEIPA: New England IPA 6%

Brewer’s note: A tropical hazy fruity NEIPA.

Lemonaki: Light Lager 6.7%

Brewer’s note: Bright, breezy, and bursting with zest, Lemonaki is a crisp lager kissed with natural lemon flavor. Its name—meaning “little lemon” in Greek—captures the playful, sunny spirit of this easy-drinking brew.

Light in body with a refreshing citrus twist, Lemonaki is perfect for hot days, island vibes, and carefree moments. Whether you're seaside or just dreaming of it, this lager brings a splash of summer to every sip.
