We’ve had a pretty low alcohol month due to chest infections, training for half marathons, and just not being out and about as much. Of course, we have still been doing our New Brew Thursday sessions, we’ve revisited a few German beers in a nod to Oktoberfest, and we’ve even been doing some homebrewing (though we won’t get to try our brew for another few weeks).
New Brew Networking
I’m not running a new brew event in October as I’ve got a lot on, but I am hoping to host another in-person event in November.
I’ve currently got Friday, November 13th pencilled in, and I’d love to get some commitment before I start promoting it on socials. So if you fancy joining me for a couple of drinks in Leeds, hit reply and let me know whether you can make it.
If I get a good response, I’ll book us a table somewhere with great beer and decent food.
What We’ve Been Drinking in September…
Here’s a quick rundown of what we’ve been drinking in September.
A Selection of Pales from Polly’s

We’ve been working our way through this selection of pale ales from Polly’s. So far we’ve tried six over two sessions, and we’ll hopefully be completing the set in October. Once we’ve sampled all ten, I’ll be sharing my thoughts in a post, but so far, we’ve not had a single bad beer.
A Nod to Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest is currently in full swing over in Munich. We’re hoping to get over for one in the next couple of years. But since we couldn’t make it over this year, we decided to revisit a couple of our favourite Munich-brewed beers.
New Brews at Home

Since we started the month fighting a chest infection, we threw a few no-lows in to the mix. We also had a couple of award-winning brews, and a final brew in the garden (just in case we’ve seen the last of the sunny days).
Top 5 & Beer of the Month
What’s on the menu for the month ahead?
As always, we’ve got a huge selection of beers in the fridge, including the last of the Polly’s that we haven’t tried yet.
We've also been busy brewing our own beer, using one of the Brewery in a Box kits from Brew Bros.
I bought the kit and Classic IPA for Alex’s birthday last year, and we were pretty impressed with our first attempt. This time we’ve gone for a stout, which should be ready in time for Halloween. In the meantime, I made bread and flapjacks with the spent grain.

And as always, we’ll be on the lookout for interesting new brews when we’re out and about.
I’m always open to recommendations, so do let me know good beers you’ve been drinking recently, and I hope you can join us for a beer on November 13th - hit reply and let me know if you’re in.
Cheers!
