July New Brews

We started the month in Sheffield with a mini pub crawl in Kelham Island. The following weekend, we headed to DMC for their closing party (so sad to see another independent brewery close). Mid-month, we were at the Victoria & Commercial for our new brew event. And we rounded off the month at Piglove By The River where Alex got the winner’s medal in the 10k. In between, we’ve also had some lovely new brews at home.

This month’s venue shout-out isn’t just a single venue - it’s a collection of venues in the Kelham Island area of Sheffield.

We visited on a Wednesday afternoon, so not all of them were open, but we did get to grab some tasty cask ales in three lovely pubs: Kelham Island Tavern, The Fat Cat, and Shakespeares.

We also tested out our new Fizzics machine with a couple of lagers:

It’s hard to be sure whether it made the beer taste better without doing a side-by-side comparison, but it definitely gave the beer a lovely frothy head. We’ll be testing it further, and I’ll share a review at some point. But if you’re interested in testing it for yourself, here’s the link to buy one.

We also popped a keg of Affligem Fruits Rouges on our Blade machine, and it’s a lovely fruity beer. Perfect for the hot weather.

As always, we’ve been on the lookout for tasty new brews when we’re out and about, and we found a fair few, including these:

We’ve got a weekend in Italy planned, so we’ll be looking out for some local beers (we’ve already been researching craft beer bars in the area).

We’ll also be heading to the Brewed in Leeds festival at Horsforth Brewery (28th-30th Aug), and we’re confident we’ll find some amazing beers there. Tickets are still available if you fancy supporting the Leeds brewing scene.

And as always, we’ll be on the lookout for interesting new brews when we’re out and about.
